This is a collection of black and white 35mm film images I shot in the spring of 2020 before the Covid-19 lockdown. I had committed to shooting film this year as much as possible after 12 years of dormancy and I wanted to just shoot and make as much new work as possible. These images have come from that exploration.

I am fascinated with form and detail in nature and my surroundings. I have always been drawn to observing this natural world on a flatter plane. As I grow older it feels more like my camera is my microscope and the film is my wet slide. I am fascinated by the change in a small area over time. When I was in the first grade our teacher gave us strings. We tied them on the ends to make a circle. Then she had us lay that circle in the grass and observe what was in it for several minutes, writing down what we found. In a way I think this broke open something in me that felt like it had found home. Part of me never left it.
